Rochester's Urban Farm Tour continues Sunday, June 22nd
sponsored by Slow Food Rochester
(each garden only open for that specific hour)

This monthly tour will be held on the 3rd Sunday of each month (except for June when it will be the 4th Sunday, June 22 - to avoid Father's Day), with a rotating schedule of gardens.  Each garden will be open for one hour, so the homeowner can go visit the other gardens.  There is no charge for this garden tour.  Join us for one garden or all of them.  To be on the Slow Food Rochester email list for other events, email Michael - Michael@SavorLife.com.

June 22nd Schedule

12 noon - 19 Trafalgar Street, directly behind Wilson Magnet School on Genesee Street (Michael Warren Thomas)
Michael's family has 50 edible plant species, which doesn't include 30 heirloom tomatoes that are grown on his flat roof.  There is a pond with singing toads, grapevines, apple trees and much more.  A neighbor has a Paw Paw tree.

1pm - Clara Barton School #2, 190 Reynolds Street between Corn Hill & the 19th Ward (Jan McDonald, Executive Director of Rochester Roots) In 2006, we expanded our gardens to include a one-acre parcel of land on the grounds of School #2. This parcel provides a majority of the produce used for distribution and marketing. Over 40 varieties of vegetables are grown here. In the courtyard of the school there are raised beds and an herb garden. The entrance to the school is landscaped with flowers. Mapquest Link

2pm - 51 Raeburn Avenue, between Thurston & Genesee Park Blvd.  (Marcene Lloyd)  Marcene has been growing edible things for years and loves experimenting with new ideas.  Her favorite book is Rodale's 1001 Ingenious Gardening Ideas.  Her gardens grow under 60' Black Walnut trees, with some things in containers.
